Privacy Policy

FareRadar (“we”, “us”) operates fareradar.net. This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

The short version

You can use FareRadar without an account. If you sign up for Deal Alerts, we hold your email address and your alert settings so we can send the alerts you asked for, and a record that you agreed to receive them. We never ask for payment details, we do not sell or rent your information, and we do not book flights — when you follow a link to a booking site or airline, you leave FareRadar entirely.

Deal Alerts

If you sign up for Deal Alerts, we collect and keep:

  • your email address;
  • the departure cities you follow, how often you want emails, and how many deals each one carries;
  • a record of each alert we send you and which deals it contained, so we never send you the same deal twice;
  • a record of your consent: the wording you agreed to, when, the page you signed up on, and the IP address and browser you used.

We use this only to send the alerts you asked for, to stop sending when you ask, and to show that you agreed to receive them — which Canada’s anti-spam law (CASL) requires us to be able to do.

Signing in works by emailing you a one-time code. We don’t use passwords. Codes expire after 10 minutes and are stored scrambled, never as the code itself.

You can also continue with Google. If you do, Google tells us your email address, name, profile picture and whether the address is verified, and we use them only to sign you in. We don’t ask for access to your Google account, contacts or mail, and we don’t post anything anywhere.

Our email provider, Resend, sends the emails on our behalf and reports back whether each one was delivered, bounced or marked as spam. If an address bounces permanently or an email is marked as spam, we stop emailing it. Resend may also record when a link in an alert is clicked.

How long we keep it

  • Your email, settings and alert history: until you delete your account.
  • Your consent record: for 3 years after you unsubscribe or delete your account, and then deleted. We keep it for that period because it is our proof that you agreed to the emails.
  • Sign-in codes: until they are used or expire, whichever comes first.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe with one click from any alert email. It takes effect straight away.
  • See, change or delete your settings and account on your Deal Alerts page. Deleting removes your account, cities and alert history; the consent record is kept as described above.
  • Clear your site data to remove your saved departure city and any prompt settings.
  • Block or clear cookies to stop analytics, or use Google’s opt-out add-on below.
  • Contact us at privacy@fareradar.net to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or with any other question about this policy.

Cookies and your browser

If you sign in for Deal Alerts, we set one cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 90 days. It is needed for the account to work and is used for nothing else.

We also save a few things in your browser’s local storage: your departure city, so the site opens on it; whether you have already seen or dismissed a sign-up prompt, so we don’t ask again for 30 days; and a random ID that lets us count, without knowing who you are, how often each sign-up prompt is shown and used. This stays on your device except for that anonymous count, and clearing your site data removes it.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the site is used in aggregate — which pages are visited, which departure cities are popular, and whether people find what they came for. Google sets cookies and receives your IP address, from which it derives an approximate location. We do not use analytics to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine it with your Deal Alerts information.

Google processes this data as described in Google’s Privacy Policy. You can opt out across all sites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or block analytics cookies in your browser. The site works normally either way.

Where your information is kept

FareRadar is operated from British Columbia, Canada. Our database, hosting and email providers run their services in the United States, so your information may be stored and processed there, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard request data — IP address, timestamp, page requested, browser type — for security and reliability. These logs are kept for a short period and are not used to build any profile of you.

Links to other sites

FareRadar links out to booking sites, airlines and the deal sources we index. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Once you follow a link, that site’s own policy applies.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date below always reflects the current version. If a change affects Deal Alerts subscribers materially, we will tell them by email before it takes effect.
